Unlimited Access

Internet Service Providers (ISP's) refer to the term "unlimited access" as service access for a set fee. This does not mean the user has the right to dial-in and stay connected 24 hours a day. In fact, most ISP's have mechanisms that disconnect a user who is idle for a certain period of time. TXIS.NET IS NOT CURRENTLY DOING THIS, but we must reserve our right to do so in the future.

All ISP's make their profit, and thus stay in business, by selling more customers than they have phone lines and modems to service. This is known as line density. Some ISP's run as high as thirty users to every modem, so you get a busy signal at high usage times. TXIS.NET runs a highly reliable, low overhead, low density service. This means you get connected more often and don't feel the need to keep a connection when you take a break for lunch or dinner. This works well for our customers, the majority of whom are professional people, who have interruptions and meetings to contend with all day.

Therefore, we do not want you to "ping" or otherwise keep your connection open. Doing so violates our agreement and could terminate your service. If you need to be connected "full" time, we will issue you an unlisted phone number to a single modem for a set fee of $75.00/month over and above your normal service fee. If we find you are using the service in excess of the norm, we will contact you to see if you:

A) Have keeled over on the keyboard.
B) Need to get a life.
C) Need some technical help.
D) Need to pay $75.00/month for a private connection.
E) All of the Above.

Like the phone company, we have a set number of lines. With customer cooperation, we can keep our costs low and our service quality high. Please use restraint by programming your dialers to release the connection after a set number of inactive minutes (preferably ten to fifteen).
Thank You,
TXIS.NET Management
